Violin & Cello Foundations Intensive 10-Day Summer Camp Dates: June 15 (Mon) – June 19 (Fri) AND June 22 (Mon) – June 26 (Fri) Group 1 – Ages 4–6 (9am - 12pm) Group 2 – Ages 6–17 (9am -3pm) Final Concert: Saturday, June 27 at 1:00 PM Violin & Cello Foundations Intensive is a 10-day summer camp designed for violin and cello students ages 4–17, focused on building the essential foundations needed for confident ensemble and orchestra playing. The camp is divided into two groups, allowing students to learn at an age-appropriate pace while sharing a unified philosophy centered on strong fundamentals. Group 1 – Young Beginners (Ages 4–6) This group meets 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM for all ten days and is open to beginners with no prior experience. Students explore music through rhythm, movement, listening, and simple scale patterns in a supportive and joyful environment. This group is designed as a gentle introduction to string playing and group music-making. Students must bring their own violin or cello. Group 2 – Violin & Cello Intensive (Ages 6–17) This group meets 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM for all ten days and is open to beginner and intermediate students. All students in this group are required to submit a video audition for placement. Placement ensures that each student receives level-appropriate music, assignments, and ensemble roles. Program Focus Unlike most summer programs that emphasize repertoire, this camp places foundational skills first. Students work intensively on: - Scales and arpeggios in all keys - Rhythm independence and subdivision - Bowing technique and dynamic(sounding point) control - Ensemble listening, balance, and musicianship Technical skills are never taught in isolation—students apply what they learn immediately through daily ensemble playing. Students of all levels develop secure intonation, rhythmic clarity, and effective practice habits by playing different keys and rhythms simultaneously, strengthening independence, listening skills, and musical awareness in a structured and encouraging environment. This camp is especially beneficial for students who: - Struggle to play scales in tune - Find rhythm and subdivision challenging - Want to improve sight reading - Want to practice more efficiently - Need strong foundations to succeed in ensemble or orchestra settings The program is intensive but pleasant, focused yet joyful, and designed to help students grow musically while enjoying the learning process.
