Foundations Intensive
2026 Summer Camp

A: It is a 10-day summer camp focused on building strong musical foundations for violin and cello students through scales, arpeggios, rhythm independence, bow technique, and ensemble musicianship, with daily ensemble application.

A: Most camps focus mainly on repertoire. This camp focuses on foundation first—scales, arpeggios, rhythm, and technique—so students gain skills that improve their playing long-term, not just for one performance.

A: No. While there is a final concert, the primary goal is skill development, not performance preparation. However, we will teach how to apply foundation to ensemble music or solo repertoires.

A: Students ages 4–17.

• Group 1 (Ages 4–6): Violin only

• Group 2 (Ages 6–17): Violin and Cello

• Group 1: No experience required.

• Group 2: Beginners and intermediate students are welcome.

• Group 1: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

• Group 2: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

A: Yes. This is a 10-day intensive program, and full attendance is expected.

A: There are no make-up classes and no refunds for missed days.

A: The final concert (Saturday, June 27 at 1:00 PM) is strongly encouraged, but not required.

A: Videos are used only for placement, not acceptance. They help us assign appropriate levels, music, and ensemble roles.

• Link 1 (All students): Short introduction video

• Link 2 (Group 2 only): One major scale and arpeggio (slow & fast)

• Link 3 (Group 2 only): One minor scale and arpeggio (slow & fast)

A: No. We are looking for overall level and learning readiness, not perfection.

A: Yes. Rhythm reading and musical awareness are integrated throughout the program.

A: Yes. Faculty may adjust placement if it better supports the student’s learning.

• Bow technique and dynamic control

• Ensemble listening, balance, and musicianship

• How to apply technique immediately in ensemble settings

A: Yes. Technique learned in the morning is applied in ensemble sessions daily.

A: Yes. The camp is supported by interns who are advanced students of the faculty, working under direct supervision.

A: Yes. All students must bring their own violin or cello.

• Instrument and accessories (rosin, shoulder rest/endpin stop)

• Water bottle

A: The camp provides water only. Students should bring their own lunch and snacks.

A: No. Parents are responsible for ensuring their child is healthy enough to participate.

A: A 50% refund is available if withdrawing by May 31, 2026. No refunds are available after that date or after camp begins.

• Pick-up (Group 1): 12:00–12:20 PM

• Pick-up (Group 2): 3:00–3:20 PM
