Jinny's Music Studio was built by musicians, for musicians — a music studio, recital hall, rehearsal space, and recording room in San Jose, founded on a simple belief: music education should be for everyone, not a privilege. Lessons are the first step of every musical journey, and our whole purpose is to be where that journey starts — a community center for music and the arts here in the Bay.
Students learn in a room built for real performance — concert-hall acoustics and commercial-grade equipment that train a true ear from the very first lesson.
The teachers below are local instructors who partner with us because they believe in that mission. Each runs their own teaching practice — their own rates, schedule, and curriculum — and brings their own creativity to how they teach. Recording & Recitals
Lessons here aren't limited to the practice room. Every student has access to a professional recital hall for performances and a recording studio for capturing auditions, competition tapes, or just a favorite piece. Many teachers build a recording or recital into a season of lessons, so progress ends in a real performance — not just another private lesson.
Reduced Practice Rates for Students
Students currently taking lessons also get a discounted rate on practice space between lessons, so they can keep working on the Steinway or in a rehearsal room outside their scheduled time. Ask your teacher or contact the studio for current practice rates.

We built our teacher partnership around exactly that — a professional performance room, a Steinway-equipped studio, and terms designed so teaching here works as a real career, not a side hustle.

Our pricing exists for one reason: to keep the studio's share to the actual cost of the room, so lessons stay affordable and teachers earn a living wage. What our partner educators share with us is more than a space — it's a mission to inspire the next generation to create and record music.
We partner with teachers at the lowest rate we can sustain, so more of every lesson dollar stays with the educator, and lessons stay within reach for the students who need them.

Jason Kim — Piano
SF Conservatory-trained · Prize-winning performer · Teaches on our Steinway Model B. Jason holds a Master's and Artist Certificate in Piano Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and has won prizes at the US Open, KAMSA, and SF International piano competitions.

Robert Scott — Oboe
Principal Oboist, Stockton Symphony · Peabody & SF Conservatory-trained. Robert brings a working principal oboist's ear to every lesson, evaluating each student's full setup to build a foundation that lasts.

Walt Schumann — Violin & Viola
German-trained · Music Director & Principal Conductor, Pleasant Hill Academy. Raised in a Düsseldorf family of professional musicians and luthiers, Walt holds dual Master's degrees in violin and viola performance and has taught across the Bay Area for 15+ years.

Manhattan School of Music · Prize-winning performer · Collaborative pianist. Ryan is currently studying with David Fung at Manhattan School of Music, following a degree at UCLA and training at SFCM's Pre-College. A winner at the Atwater Kent Piano Competition and the LA Int'l Liszt Competition.

Every Teacher, Their Own Voice
No two great teachers work the same way, and we wouldn't want them to. Some are rigorous conservatory technicians; some build confidence in a first-year beginner; some specialize in audition prep, theory, or performance coaching. We don't standardize our partner teachers — creativity is exactly what we're here to protect.
